As a Manager, you’ll lead teams of analysts as they seek to transform vast quantities of raw data into actionable insights for all Rioters. You’ll work with teams to understand their processes and concerns, structure their needs into engagements, and work with analysts to resolve these engagements quickly and effectively while managing the growth and development of a super-sharp team.
You are:
- Player-focused: your left brain loves numbers, your right brain can find creative uses for them, but your whole brain loves gaming and you use your gaming experience to bring it all together and create analytical clarity from the murkiest of problems. Bonus points for ranked LoL play – take play seriously!
- Educated: you’ll need at least a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Computer Science, Applied Math, Management Information Systems or a related discipline; an MSc in those disciplines or an MBA will move you closer to the top of the list
- A veteran analyst: you have a successful history of using data to turn questions into answers, confusion into clarity, theories into facts. More than that, you’re at a level where working through the oft-missed exceptions IS the rule; No bonus – this is where you shine, 1 or 0
- Business-savvy: you’re well-aware that there’s no point to analyzing all the things if the decision hinges on one number; you’re sharp about what makes a business like Riot tick and can find the critical path to a meaningful answer with ease; professional XP developing KPIs to inform business decisions will earn you some bonus points
- Technically adept: you don’t believe in language barriers; you already know or are down to learn SQL, Python, or any other language that makes getting to the data more efficient; bonus points for front-end languages like Java or PHP
- A ready leader: you’ve either led quant-heavy teams or are clearly ready for the task; you’re able to manage developing your team’s skills, matching engagements to interests and competencies, and a host of other responsibilities that come with fronting a team of top-notch analysts
- Adaptable: you recognize that situations change, complications arise, and you’re ok with that; you’re coolly flexible and able to handle whatever comes your way, moving seamlessly from the front lines of analysis to the abstractions of strategic decision-making on a daily basis
- An equipped communicator: you’re best in class when it comes to conveying ideas, be it explaining the importance of a project to your team or explaining complex analyses to a statistical layperson; in all cases you’re clear, concise, easy to listen to, and hard to miss
You will:
- Lead your team of elite analysts as they delve into massive, complex data sets representing millions of online games
- Work with leaders across Riot to understand how decisions are made and how your team can better inform them, from gameplay to marketing to global planning
- Turn complex problems into structured projects that can be split up amongst a team, and manage the production process from hypotheses to final deliverables
- Represent players by answering questions, informing business goals, and providing the insight we need to make savvy decisions with the player in mind; help keep everyone up to speed by establishing regular reports and making a dashboard of critical statistics available for reference
